Neue Funktionen im Data Management Tool V5 – Release April 2018

Das EAM Data Management Tool für IBM Maximo und IBM Control Desk wird permanent weiterentwickelt.
Im April 2018 wurde die Version 5 freigegeben und steht ab sofort für Bestandskunden und für neue Kunden zum Einsatz bereit. Nachfolgend werden die wichtigsten neuen Funktionen kurz erläutert.

1. Datenprüfung bei Spalten mit ALN, SYNONYM oder NUM Domänen
Bei der Eingabe von Daten in Spalten mit Domänen in der Excel Datei gibt es jetzt Datenprüfungen. Es wird eine Liste der erlaubten Domänenwerte angezeigt (Excel Dropdown Funktionalität). Bei der Eingabe von Werten, die nicht in der Werteliste enthalten sind, wird ein Hinweis ausgegeben.

• Schnellere Eingabe
• Weniger Fehler bei der Erfassung und Überarbeitung von Daten
• Prüfung bereits in Excel und nicht erst beim Import in Maximo

2. Erweiterung des Arbeitsblattes „DataDictionary“ um zusätzliche Informationen
Das Arbeitsblatt „DataDictionary“ wird beim Download von Daten aus Maximo erstellt. Es enthält nun alle Objekte, die in den Arbeitsblättern referenziert werden (das Hauptobjekt der Anwendung, alle referenzierten Unterobjekte sowie Spezifikationsattribute). Zusätzlich sind Informationen über die verwendeten ALN, SYNONYM und NUM Domänen und ihre definierten Domänenwerte enthalten. Dies ist die Datenbasis für die in Punkt 1 beschriebene Datenprüfung in Spalten mit Domänen.

Ihr Nutzen:
Vollständige Information über die betroffenen Maximo Objekte, Attribute, Datentypen, Feldlängen, Domänen, etc.

3. Zeitgesteuerte Datenexports über Templates
Ein neuer Crontask erlaubt den zeitgesteuerten periodischen Export von Daten aus Maximo. Mittels Crontask Parametern wird festgelegt, aus welcher Anwendung welche Daten (gespeicherte Abfrage) in welches Download Template exportiert werden sollen. Das Ergebnis kann entweder im Dateisystem abgelegt werden (Zielverzeichnis) und/oder automatisch via E-Mail versendet werden.

Ihr Nutzen:
Wiederkehrende Exporte aus Maximo können einfach automatisiert werden (z. B. als Basis für weitere Auswertungen in Excel, Controlling, etc.).

4. Verhindern von Problemen bei zu hohem Speicherverbrauch (Out of Memory)
Der Download von sehr umfangreichen Suchergebnissen aus Maximo kann zu Ressourcenproblemen führen (Speicherbedarf von Maximo durch große Anzahl von Objekten sowie Speicherbedarf der erstellten Excel Datei). Um dies zu verhindern, kann nun mit einer Systemeigenschaft festgelegt werden, wieviel Java Heap Speicher zumindest frei bleiben muss (in Prozent des verfügbaren Heap Speichers). Bei Unterschreiten wird der Export abgebrochen.

Ihr Nutzen:
Verhindern von Out of Memory Fehlern bei den umfangreichen Exporten, Maximo bleibt verfügbar.

5. Limits für die Anzahl der Datensätze beim Datenexport festlegbar
Mittels Systemeigenschaften in Maximo kann nun global („EAM.Export.MaxRows“) oder für jedes Objekt („EAM.Export.MaxRows.) festgelegt werden, wie viele Datensätze maximal exportiert werden dürfen. Wenn das aktuelle Suchergebnis mehr Zeilen umfasst, dann wird der Export mit einer Fehlermeldung abgebrochen.

Ihr Nutzen:
Es kann verhindert werden, dass bei Tabellen mit sehr vielen Datensätzen durch zu umfangreiche Exports die Systemauslastung zu groß wird (schlechte Performance auch für andere Benutzer) bzw. Maximo nicht mehr verfügbar ist (Out of Memory).

6. Erweiterter Suchergebnis Download: Hauptobjekt in jeder Zeile ausgeben
Beim Herunterladen eines erweiterten Suchergebnisses in Excel kann nun individuell eingestellt werden, ob die Daten des Hauptobjektes (links von der Trennspalte) in JEDER Zeile ausgegeben werden sollen.

Ihr Nutzen:
Dieses Feature war auch eine Kundenanforderung und kann die weitere Verarbeitung der Excel Dateien vereinfachen (z. B. Erstellen von Pivot Auswertungen oder Import der Daten in Fremdsysteme).

7. Detaillierte Protokollierung beim Import von Daten
Mit der Systemeinstellung „EAM.Importer.DebugLog“ kann ein sehr detailliertes Logging während des Imports von Daten aktiviert werden. Es ist genau nachvollziehbar, welche Daten aus Excel gelesen werden und wie diese verarbeitet werden. Das erstellte Logfile kann auch aus dem Import History Dialog heruntergeladen werden.

Ihr Nutzen:
Dieses Feature erleichtert hauptsächlich die Fehlersuche bei komplexen Imports (speziell wenn auch Formeln im Excel Dokument verwendet werden).

Neue Funktionen im EAM Data Management Tool V4

Das EAM Data Management Tool für IBM Maximo und IBM Control Desk wird permanent weiter entwickelt.
Im Januar 2017 wurde die Version 4 freigegeben und steht ab sofort für Bestandskunden und für neue Kunden zum Einsatz bereit. Nachfolgend werden die wichtigsten neuen Funktionen kurz erläutert.

1.  Löschen von Datensätzen mittels Datenimport
Bisher konnten mit dem EAM Data Management Tool durch ein Hochladen von Excel Dateien einfach neue Daten importiert und bereits vorhandene Daten geändert werden. Neu in Version 4 ist die Möglichkeit, Datensätze mit einer Löschmarkierung zu versehen.

Ihr Nutzen:
Das Überarbeiten von Bestandsdaten wird damit noch flexibler und schneller. Insert, Update und Delete erfolgt durch einen einzigen Datenimport.

2.  Unterstützung von virtuellen Unterobjekten beim Extended Import
Der Extended Import ermöglicht den Import von Haupt- und Unterobjekten. An einigen Stellen werden in Maximo virtuelle Unterobjekte verwendet (z.B. Aktion ,,Artikelnummer ändern“ bei Anlagen). Neu ist, dass nun auch der Import von virtuellen Unterobjekten (NonPersistent Mbos) unterstützt wird.

Ihr Nutzen:
Auch komplexe Imports unter Beteiligung von virtuellen Unterobjekten können mit dem Tool durchgeführt werden.

3.  Unterstützung von Statuswechsel bei untergeordneten Objekten
Bei einem Extended Import kann nun auch für das untergeordnete Objekt ein Statuswechsel durchgeführt werden. Dies war bisher nur für die Hauptobjekte möglich. Zum Beispiel kann der Status von LABORQUAL Datensätzen (Qualifikationen von Mitarbeitern) geändert werden, wenn diese als untergeordnete Objekte von Qualifikationen importiert werden.

Ihr Nutzen:
Die Möglichkeiten von automatisierten Statuswechseln im Rahmen von Datenimports werden erweitert.

4.  Zurückschreiben von Schlüsselattributen in das Excel Importfile
Bereits bisher wurden AUTOKEY Werte (fortlaufende Nummern) in die Excel Antwortdatei zurückgeschrieben, damit der Importvorgang nachvollziehbar wird. Neu ist, dass für alle Schlüsselattribute eines Objekts die Werte aus der Excel Datei mit jenen im Zielobjekt verglichen werden und ALLE Abweichungen in die Importdatei zurückgeschrieben werden. Ein Anwendungsbeispiel ist, wenn der Primärschlüssel für neue Maximo Daten von der Businesslogik erzeugt wird (also nicht im Importfile steht und auch kein AUTOKEY ist). Diese ermittelten bzw. generierten Schlüsselwerte werden in die Excel Antwortdatei zurückgeschrieben.

Ihr Nutzen:
Datenimports werden noch transparenter.

5.  Einrichten von Crontasks zum Verarbeiten von Excel Importdateien
Importdateien können über die Maximo Benutzeroberfläche hochgeladen werden (der übliche Weg). Seit Version 3 können Importdateien auch über die Kommandozeile hochgeladen werden. Nun kann auch ein Maximo Crontask eingerichtet werden, der zeitgesteuert Importdateien aus einem bestimmten Verzeichnis verarbeitet.

Ihr Nutzen:
Zyklische Excel Datenimporte oder Aktualisierungsprozesse lassen sich automatisieren.

Beispiele:
a) Ein Quellsystem stellt zyklisch Daten im Excel Format in einem definierten Verzeichnis bereit.
b) Verantwortliche kopieren bei Änderungsbedarf Excel Importdateien in ein definiertes Verzeichnis.

6.  Prüfung auf eingeschalteten Verwaltungsmodus beim Import
Der Import von Daten ist grundsätzlich immer möglich, egal, ob der Verwaltungsmodus (Admin Mode) aktiviert ist oder nicht. Wenn der Verwaltungsmodus aktiv ist, sind aber bestimmte Dienste und Prozesse in Maximo deaktiviert. Eine negative Auswirkung davon ist, dass Änderungen an Ancestor Tabellen nicht durchgeführt werden. D.h. wenn bei aktiven Verwaltungsmodus Assets, Person, PM oder WO manuell erfasst oder importiert werden, dann werden die entsprechenden Ancestor Tabellen nicht befüllt und die Daten in Maximo sind unvollständig und inkonsistent (Maximo Standardverhalten).

Neu ist eine Prüfung auf Admin Mode, wenn Objekte importiert werden, die eine Ancestor Tabelle mitführen. Sollte der Verwaltungsmodus beim Import in diese Anwendungen bzw. Objekte aktiv sein, dann wird der Import mit einer Fehlermeldung abgebrochen.

Ihr Nutzen:
Importe werden noch sicherer (sogar noch sicherer als manuelle Erfassungen in Maximo Standard).

RODIAS GMBH End-User License Agreement („EULA“) is a legal agreement between you (either an individual or a single entity) and RODIAS GMBH for the RODIAS GMBH software product(s) identified above which may include associated software components, media, printed materials, and „online“ or electronic documentation („SOFTWARE PRODUCT“). By installing, copying, or otherwise using the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, you agree to be bound by the terms of this EULA. This license agreement represents the entire agreement concerning the program between you and RODIAS GMBH, (referred to as „licenser“), and it supersedes any prior proposal, representation, or understanding between the parties. If you do not agree to the terms of this EULA, do not install or use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

The EAM Data Management Tool for IBM Maximo/Maximo Data Manager uses the JExcelApi Library which is issued under the GNU Lesser General Public License Version 3.

The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is protected by copyright laws and international copyright treaties, as well as other intellectual property laws and treaties. The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is licensed, not sold.

1. GRANT OF LICENSE. 
The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is licensed as follows:

(a) General Installation and Use. RODIAS GMBH grants you the right to install and use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT within ONE system installation. You can install the SOFTWARE PRODUCT in one System and use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT as an add on to IBM Maximo¹⁾ applications or other IBM Tivoli¹⁾ products based on the Tivoli Process Automation Engine (TPAE).

(b) Backup Copies. You may also make copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT as may be necessary for backup and archival purposes.

(c) Installation or Use in more than one System You may not install or use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT in more than one System without the written Agreement from RODIAS GMBH. Excluded from this regulation are test environments.

(d) Use within timely Limitations If there is nothing defined in the purchase process concerning a limited or unlimited time period where the product can be used, the timely limitation is defined on 1 year after purchase date. It is not allowed to use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT after this limitation without a written Agreement from RODIAS GMBH.

(e) Use in different Applications The use of the product is limited to defined applications within one system. For each assignment of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT to an IBM Maximo¹⁾ application one license has to be bought at RODIAS GMBH. Any custom applications within Maximo also count as one separate application. If you assign the SOFTWARE PRODUCT to more than one application with the same Maximo Business Object (MBO), this assignment counts as one assignment and needs only one license. It is only allowed to use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT in the defined applications. The list of allowed applications or the general permission to use the product in all applications is defined in the buying process or in a separate written Agreement from RODIAS GMBH.

(f) Use of separate Add On Components Separate Add On Components for the SOFTWARE PRODUCT such as special import/export functionality for specification data are available. For each Add On Component of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT a separate license has to be bought at RODIAS GMBH. The list of allowed Add On Components is defined in the buying process or in a separate written Agreement from RODIAS GMBH.

(g) Use in growing Systems The license costs are coupled to the number and type of users in the system. If the number of users in the target system grows more than 25 % since the purchase date, RODIAS GMBH has to be informed about this fact. RODIAS GMBH can allow the use in the extended system or send the customer an appropriate quotation for the use in the extended system. If there will be no amicable arrangement concerning additional license cost, RODIAS GMBH can revoke the right to use the licenses. This point can be contracted in the other way in the purchasing process.

2. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER RIGHTS AND LIMITATIONS.
(a) Maintenance of Copyright Notices. You must not remove or alter any copyright notices on any or all copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

(b) Distribution. You may not distribute copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT to third parties without the written Agreement from RODIAS GMBH.

(c) Prohibition on Reverse Engineering, Decompilation, and Disassembly. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, except and only to the extent that such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law notwithstanding this limitation.

(d) Rental. You may not rent, lease, or lend the SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

(e) Support Services. RODIAS GMBH may provide you with support services related to the SOFTWARE PRODUCT („Support Services“). Any supplemental software code provided to you as part of the Support Services shall be considered part of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT and subject to the terms and conditions of this EULA.

(f) Compliance with Applicable Laws. You must comply with all applicable laws regarding use of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

3. TERMINATION
Without prejudice to any other rights, RODIAS GMBH may terminate this EULA if you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of this EULA. In such event, you must destroy all copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT in your possession.

4. COPYRIGHT
All title, including but not limited to copyrights, in and to the SOFTWARE PRODUCT and any copies thereof are owned by RODIAS GMBH or its suppliers. The EAM Data Management Tool for IBM Maximo/Maximo Data Manager uses the JExcelApi Library Library which is issued under the GNU Lesser General Public License Version 3. 
All title and intellectual property rights in and to the content which may be accessed through use of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT is the property of the respective content owner and may be protected by applicable copyright or other intellectual property laws and treaties. This EULA grants you no rights to use such content. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by RODIAS GMBH.

5. NO WARRANTIES
RODIAS GMBH expressly disclaims any warranty for the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is provided ‚As Is‘ without any express or implied warranty of any kind, including but not limited to any warranties of merchantability, non-infringement, or fitness of a particular purpose. RODIAS GMBH does not warrant or assume responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of any information, text, graphics, links or other items contained within the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. RODIAS GMBH further expressly disclaims any warranty or representation to Authorized Users or to any third party.

6. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
In no event shall RODIAS GMBH be liable for any damages (including, without limitation, lost profits, business interruption, or lost information) rising out of ‚Authorized Users‘ use of or inability to use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, even if RODIAS GMBH has been advised of the possibility of such damages. In no event will RODIAS GMBH be liable for loss or damage of data or for indirect, special, incidental, consequential (including lost profit), or other damages based in contract, tort or otherwise. RODIAS GMBH shall have no liability with respect to the content of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT or any part thereof, including but not limited to errors or omissions contained therein, libel, infringements of rights of publicity, privacy, trademark rights, business interruption, personal injury, loss of privacy, moral rights or the disclosure of confidential information.

7. SEVERANCE CLAUSE
If any provision of this agreement is prohibited by law or judged by a court to be unlawful, void or unenforceable, the provision shall, to the extent required, be severed from this agreement and rendered ineffective as far as possible without modifying the remaining provisions of this agreement, and shall not in any way affect any other circumstances of or the validity or enforcement of this agreement.
